The company, which has a turnover of £1.1m, also supplies industrial staff, warehouse operatives and engineering workers, and has more than 100 temporary workers on its books.

Both Barry and Stuart are staying on with the company, and Stuart says it is “very much business as usual” for the business albeit with the firepower and resources of a national operator behind it.

The acquisition by Staffwise is part of the group’s strategy to expand further into the North West and already has an office in Warrington.

Staffwise, which has a turnover of £40m, employs 130 people and places around 2,700 temporary workers daily.

Last month, it rescued Preston-based Match Recruitment, which had a turnover of £1m, out of administration. Staffwise operates across a multitude of sectors including education and childcare, transport, commercial, food processing and agriculture, IT, industrial and automotive, accountancy as well as offering an executive search and selection service.

It has more than 22 offices across the UK including major sites in London, Birmingham, Bristol and Glasgow.

Tom McMurray, chief executive of Staffwise, said the group is increasing its geographical spread and actively seeking acquisitions in the North West and North East of England.

He said: “Stuart and Barry are two good operators who, while remaining at the helm, will continue to drive forward the company.

“Cheshire Recruitment Services is an excellent addition to the Staffwise portfolio and is a great platform from which to further expand into the North West.

Stuart added: “By becoming part of Staffwise our clients will benefit from the additional resources and the deal will open up new avenues for Cheshire Recruitment Services.”

The transaction was brokered by the corporate team at Knightsbridge Business Sales. Chris Bull, director of KBS Corporate, said: “Cheshire Recruitment Services is an extremely well managed business which will now achieve its full potential as part of Staffwise.”
